The Houlton Tapestry project is the first of many projects that Urban & Civic will be investing in to mark the 100 year anniversary and indeed in 2027 and will continue the celebrations as it will be 100 years since that first iconic transatlantic broadcast across the pacific to Houlton in Maine, USA.

Urban and Civic are sponsoring the work of Allan Levy to deliver this exciting project and hope all those that share a fondness for the history of Rugby Radio Station get’s involved and leaves their mark for the future.

About Houlton

Through the creation of Houlton, Urban & Civic as the master developer, has rooted many decisions about the future in the site’s past. From naming the place Houlton after the first transatlantic broadcast made in 1927, to the road and building names, and of course the transformation of the former Grade II Listed Rugby Radio Station building into the award-winning Houlton School campus – Houlton today has many, many reminders of this site’s exciting history.

In 2026, Rugby Radio Station would have been 100 years old and although it was decommissioned in 2002 and the radio masts have long since been removed, there is much to celebrate for those that remember the site’s history to those new residents who are making this historic place their home.
